In 2023, we held the inaugural meeting of Between the Trapezes Job Search Networking: For when you’re between two career certainties

Next meeting: to be announced. Send Joanne an email so you'll get the next meeting notice!

What do we do?

Come for job search networking and/or career connecting with the next generation of leaders – managers, directors, VPs -- and those aspiring to those roles. Or those who’ve served in them and now want to share their wisdom! In-person AND via Zoom (future meetings).

What happens at each meeting?

A few years ago, Joanne broke new networking ground with the "Give and Get" networking exercise that attendees do, enabling you to leave with REAL contacts and new connections -- whether at in-person meetings OR on Zoom. She continues that with Between the Trapezes. Why is the group called that? So many job hunters over the years have said that at various times in one's career, it FEELS like you're between two trapezes. So Joanne decided to honor that with the group's name -- and with the driving philosophy of helping all members move forward with each contact.

And members are motivated to connect between meetings with other group members, and not just at the meetings.

At times, there will be a speaker or panel presenting information you can use on your job OR in job search.

And there will be material presented that will help you network more efficiently and elegantly. Come prepared to meet others: your cell phone will allow you to take photos of various materials, and a pen will be useful for written exercises. Make sure you have some business cards OR come ready to share your email signature.

You'll leave the meeting with others, new contacts! And you'll be better armed to do your search or make connections. And you'll probably be helping fellow members more than you realize!

What is the cost?

We’re NO CHARGE – but we ask you to make a $20 or more donation before the meeting(s)  to your favorite animal rescue charity and talk about the charity during the group meeting so we can all support it! (No political groups, please...) If you need ideas, Joanne suggests Midwest Animal Rescue in Brooklyn Park or the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. Helping others always comes back to you in a good way!

Business casual attire is fine, whether the meeting is in person or online.

What do people say?

Attendees frequently said about an earlier version of this group created by Joanne Meehl:

- "One of the top groups for networking; I meet new people and have made excellent connections"

- "I always leave feeling more hopeful about my search"

- "The topics you cover teach me how to do a better search"

- “After 21 years at one company, the tech bubble burst and I needed to search for a job. Lucky for me I found this group. I've done 3 more searches since then and you have been a great resource each time I needed support.”

When does Between the Trapezes meet?

We’re a pop-up group that plans to meet quarterly in person or on Zoom. Days of the week and times will vary, but we will announce 1-2 weeks ahead so you can plan for it. We’re on LinkedIn (join the group there, under Groups) but get on our mailing list so we can alert you (send your request to Joanne ASAP (Joanne@betweenthetrapezes.org).

How do I register?
Just email Joanne Meehl (joanne@betweenthetrapezes.org)  to confirm that you’re coming, and we’ll save you a Zoom seat.

Looking forward to seeing you then!
